More than 40 years ago, Stephen Bailey never dreamed that his little pizza shop in Hubbard, OH would grow to become such an influential player in the pizza industry of the Mahoning Valley. Back then, pizza was just pizza until Pizza Works brought innovative ideas to the table. From the original Works pizza to the hometown favorite White pizza, Pizza Works has been creating magic ever since.
This is the story of Pizza Works. As one of the oldest and longest operating pizza establishments in Northeast Ohio, Pizza Works set and continues to set the standards for the highest quality and innovation in the pizza industry. Serving the Youngstown/Warren area for more than 40 years, Pizza Works started a tradition in 1976 that will surely extend for the next 40 years and beyond.
The Hot 80s... Business is booming!
In 1978, Stephen opened his second Pizza Works location in Howland, OH and brought on his brother, David, as vice president, but still, he had his sights set on further expansion and more innovation. With this came the opening of new Pizza Works locations in Youngstown, OH; Girard, OH; and Sharon, PA. Pizza Works soon became one of the first establishments to offer dine-in services as well as drive-thru windows and computerized Point of Sale systems. It was and still is a leader in management development and has seen many individuals go on to run their own companies.
The 90s and beyond... Did we say we love pizza? Well, we love breadbowl salads, too!
With all the great, creative employees, how could Pizza Works not expand on its original line of specialty products? Added to the menu were such greats as the Buffalo Chicken pizza, Brier Hill pizza, Super Meat pizza, Chicken Bacon Ranch pizza, a line of the freshest breadbowl salads available anywhere, and much, much more.
The Present... Big changes!
The new millennium brings back an old face. With having successfully driven Pizza Works for almost 40 years and retirement looming, Stephen was keeping his eye out for his successor. In May 2004, Bill Siwicki, former and longtime general manager, returned to Pizza Works as a co-owner. With Bill at the helm, Pizza Works continued to grow and thrive including having the popular Buffalo Chicken Pizza being voted one of the top 10 pizzas in the Midwest. Following Bill in his footsteps is the current president of Pizza Works, Bill’s son, Alex Siwicki.
The tradition continues with strong community and family values. With Pizza Works' commitment to innovative new products, industry-changing technology, and the most important aspect of all: its employees, Pizza Works will continue to leap forward to tomorrow.
